Engine/Transaxle Adapter Plates
We make a wide array of adapters to mate popular (and some not so popular) engines to most popular transaxles.
For customers buying complete car kits, if we don't already have an adapter, you can send an engine and transaxle to us and we can probably mate them together. Engineering hours to measure, design and test, as well as cutting hours on the CNC machining centers will be billed at prevailing rates. Call us to discuss custom options. Again, this option is only for customers buying a new car kit at the time the custom adapter is requested.
The following lists some of the adapters we currently make. Some are popular and are stocked, while others will need to be machined on an as-ordered basis.
Audi V8 (4.2) --> Graziano (engine plate, no adapter needed)
Audi V10 (5.2) --> Graziano (engine plate, no adapter needed)
BMW V12--> Graziano

Ford Windsor (e.g., Ford SB 302 to 427) --> Porsche G50
Ford Windsor (e.g., Ford SB 302 to 427) --> Porsche G96/01
Ford Windsor (e.g., Ford SB 302 to 427) --> Graziano

Lamborghini V10 --> Graziano (engine plate, no adapter needed)
Maserati V8 4.2 --> Graziano
Graziano Transaxle
Grazaino provides transaxles to Audi and Lamborghini and other super car manufacturers. They are 6-speed units, with high-end parts. These are new, and are suitable for a large number of replicas and Supercars. We have adapter plates that adapt the Graziano to the following engines:
Audi V8 (4.2)
Audi V10 (5.2)
BMW V12
Chevy LS series (all)
Chevy small block
Ferrari V12 (599)
Ferrari V8 (360)
Ferrari V8 (308)
Ford Windsor (e.g., Ford SB 302 to 427)
Ford Mod motor (including Coyote)
Lamborghini V10
Maserati V8 4.2
Ricardo Transaxle
Ricardo provided the transaxle for the 2005-2006 Ford GT cars. They are extremely robust, and routinely power 1000 HP cars. They also very expensive, hard to find, and the clutch and starter are costly as well, but they are bulletproof. Occasionally found new as NOS, but generally only as a used transaxle now. We have adapter plates that adapt the Ricardo to the following engines:
Chevy LS series (all)
Ford Mod motor (including Coyote); no adapter needed for these Ford engines, but specific engine plates are available
Porsche G50 Transaxle
The 5-speed (and later, 6-speed G50 series of Porsche transaxles were originally installed in 911s from 1987 to 1994. These are popular choices because they are light, relatively inexpensive to acquire, and, compared to some of the latger choices, relatively compact. We have adapter plates that adapt the G50 to the following engines:
BMW V12
Chevy LS series (all)
Ferrari V12 (400i)
Ford Windsor (e.g., Ford SB 302 to 427)
Ford Mod motor (including Coyote)
PORSCHE G96 TRANSAXLE
The G96 range of Porsche transaxles was an evolution of the venerable G50 series, with improved synchros, and other technology. These are available as reman units from Porsche and other sources, enabling a car to have a new or near-new transaxle for relatively little money. Of course, we have adapter plates that adapt the G96 series of transaxles to the following engines:
Chevy LS series (all)
Ford Windsor (e.g., Ford SB 302 to 427)
Ford Mod motor (including Coyote)
PORSCHE GT2 and GT3 TRANSAXLEs
These are relatively rare, and expensive, but tend to have better gearing for the typical domestic V8 engines in most replicas or Supercars. We have adapter plates that adapt the GT2 and GT3 transaxles to the following engines:
Chevy LS series (all)
Ford Windsor (e.g., Ford SB 302 to 427)
Ford Mod motor (including Coyote)
TREMEC T5 and world-class T5
For front-engined cars, the Tremec series of transmissions can be a great choice, with a broad aftermarket support, easy rebuilds with race-hardened parts, and a wide range of torque-input capacities. Note that expcet for the Superlite LMP1, these are not suitable for mid-engined cars. We have adapter plates that adapt the Tremec T5 to the following engines:
Ferrari V8 (308)
